We, SLMFL (Sri Lanka Muslim Foundation Leicester), and Masjidul Abrar Leicester, take this opportunity to introduce about us.

As you well aware that Sri Lankan Muslims in Leicester are a new addition to wider Muslim communities in Leicester. Our community started in settling down in this area since late 1990’s. And number of families and individuals gradually increased throughout the last 10 years period.

As number of community members grows, it was felt that there should be a masjid and community centre to cater cultural, religious, educational and social needs of the community.

Al hamdhulillah, by the will of almighty Allah and by support of the whole community, dream of having a Masjid and community centre was materialised in year 2009.

Masjidul Abrar and community centre was established in a leased building at 126A, Rosswalk, Leicester Under the management of SLMF Leicester registered charity No 1137869

Alhamdulillah, Masjidul Abrar and SLMF Leicester are well supported by the whole community despite of few religious differences prevailing within the community. Masjidul Abrar is the main stream one and only institution representing majority of Sri Lankan Muslims in Leicester.

Therefore we kindly request your esteem organization/Masjid/ Community centre to recognise us as the sole representative body of Tamil speaking Muslims in Leicester and make any official correspondence regards to Sri Lankan Muslims in Leicester with Masjidul Abraar and SLMF Leicester.

May Allah almighty accept our good deeds and keep our hearts and minds united as one Ummah Insha Allah.
